Pastor Marvin Fields, the son of Deacon and Deaconess Thomas Fields, accepted Jesus Christ at Evangel Baptist Church in Laurelton, New York at the age of 18.  He began his spiritual leadership as a Deacon in 1973 and accepted his calling as a licensed minister in 1979.  Pastor Fields matriculating at  Queensboro Community College and studied Theology at Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania.  While ministering in New York, Pastor was in a leadership role as a State Representative Youth Pastor and Interim Pastor. He relocated his family from New York to Caroline County in 1988.  Pastor Fields loves and cherishes his family. He was married for 52 blessed years to the love of his life, the late First Lady Joyce Fields.  He has two children, Bishop Duane Fields, Sr. who is the Pastor of Oxford Mount Zion Baptist Church and Marquita Fields; one daughter-in-law, Minister First Lady Sheree Fields, five grandchildren (Duane Jr, Destiny, Jordon, Jamir and Jamiyah) and one brother, Deacon Martin Fields.

 
Pastor Fields retired from the Dept. of Juvenile Justice System, where he had the opportunity to service his passion of mentoring hundreds of youth and directing them on the paths of being more productive with their lives – spiritually, mentally, and physically. After his retirement, he was elated to have the opportunity to spend more time with his family and servicing his community. Pastor Fields is faithful in his servitude in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and dedicates his ministry to leading souls into embracing the goodness of being a child of God’s kingdom.
 
As Pastor states: 

“I thank God for allowing me to experience a fulfilling life of employment, now the time has come for me to divulge into another chapter of my life.  It is truly a blessing to be able to spend every waking moment to reverence a mighty God who deserves all Honor, Praise, and Glory for all the great things that He has done!”

 
Pastor Fields has birthed and orchestrated many successful ministries and events through his ministry at Second Mount Zion Baptist Church during his 25+ years of being Pastor.  He has incorporated new initiatives which fosters continued teaching to the youth and adults, instructing each one on how to grow in the Lord. Giving God all the glory in all that He has done for the ministry. Pastor Fields is always spreading the good Word to everyone he encounters.  His focal point as Pastor is saving souls as he has led hundreds to Christ.
